49th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australasian College of Dermatologists & the 3rd Annual Meeting of the Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists

I recently attended the 49th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, and the 3rd Annual Meeting of the Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists.
Many aspects of melanoma were considered, including: the prognostic value of nomograms incorporating biomarkers in patients with melanoma; genetic testing in melanoma, management of metastatic melanoma; development of new melanoma drugs; machine intelligence and decision support in melanoma recognition; stress-induced drug resistance in melanoma, amongst many other very important topics

Of particular interest was the increasing melanoma incidence in Australia: climate change, ozone depletion and increased public awareness- more people have their skin check.

There were also updates on skin cancer research.

Very relevant to our work at Auspoint Skin Cancer and Health Clinic were considerations of the physical treatment of sun damage; the use of radiofrequency, laser and PDT; peels in the treatment of sun damage;                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     skin care for the prevention and treatment of sun damage; best practice for lasers; advanced cosmeceuticals, amongst many more interesting aspects of skin care.
